The Independent Psychological Assessment (IPA) program provides objective, comprehensive psychological assessments for youth ages five and older who have experienced one or more forms of child maltreatment. Our team of licensed psychologists accepts referrals for youth who have entered Child Welfare custody in Mecklenburg County due to child abuse, neglect, and/or dependency. An IPA includes the following:
- Face-to-face appointment with youth at Teen Health Connection including a comprehensive clinical interview and assessment measures
- Extensive records review and collateral interviews by phone
- Completion of a narrative psychological assessment report and individualized resource packet
- Debrief session to review report and recommendations with youth and professional and natural supports
The IPA program also provides a Comprehensive Clinical Assessment (CCA) for youth involved with Youth and Family Services in Mecklenburg County. A CCA is completed by a licensed clinical social worker and focuses on the placement and mental health needs.
